Associate Pastor Jim Elsbury
I was born and raised in a small town in central Indiana. We always went to church, but it was much more of a social thing. I went to Ball State University in Muncie, IN. During my Freshman year (1973), I gave my life to Jesus through the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. A year later, I was baptized in the Holy Spirit. I graduated from Ball State in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work. I have worked in one area of social services since that time and am currently an HIV Medical Case Manager at Metro Wellness and Community Center in St. Petersburg. I moved from Indiana to Chicago in 1985 and pastored an inclusive, charismatic church there from 1989 to 1993. After that, I was burned out on the whole "pastor" thing and decided to lay low for a while. However, Jesus had other plans and after my partner and I moved to Largo in 2008, I started going to Beacon and God (Whose gifts and callings are irrevocable) called me back into the ministry.
